The purpose of this task is to familiarize students with prominent figures not only in their field of study as well as those of their classmates.
The objective with this project is having students reconstruct their university, faculty or program history through the design of a History Timeline Lapbook. History is inescapable and it is important for students to understand the legacies of the past in the present. Understanding the linkages between past and present is absolutely basic for a good understanding of the condition of being human. In this particular case, students will understand their condition as future professionals by reconstructing the history of the place where they study in a lapbook.
Justification In the online age that we live in, having a professional website is an absolute necessity for nearly all career choices and business ventures. A great website can simultaneously operate as a marketing tool, a store platform, a display of works and skills, a communication channel and as an engine for branding. Description Students design a personal website where they need to include their personal profile as well as their professional profile. In the personal profile, they describe things that make them who they are. In the professional profile, they describe things they have accomplished in their professional life. Every entry in the website must follow an English paragraph structure and the design should represent who they are as professionals. Tools Students will get their own domain using Jimdo as the main tool for hosting their personal website.
The purpose of this task is to encourage students to use Social Media as a tool to boost their professional profile. The task consist of creating an effective professional profile in LinkedIn. The learning objectives of the module 1 level 6 at Icesi are: - dados textos interpretativos y expositivos relacionados con el éxito y las emociones en situaciones sociales específicas, analizar los factores que suscitan emociones y los que llevan al éxito profesional. - sustentar de manera oral y escrita su punto de vista sobre las habilidades y talentos necesarios para sobresalir en un entorno dado. - intercambiar opiniones sustentadas sobre cómo alcanzar logros específicos
WRITTEN PROJECT Online Memoir of the oldest Person in your family: As a group students will create a magazine where each one will include 3 written texts about the oldest person in their family.
DESCRIPTION: This is a project to be carried out during the course of English VI, at the Universidad Icesi. It prepares the students for a job interview in English while at the same time increasing their exposure to the four English language skills. The importance of preparing the students for a job interview in English cannot be overemphasized, since they will not only be interviewed several times in their lifetime, but they will also be in administrative positions in which they will have to interview job applicants in the companies where they work. In addition to this, the project offers an effective way to improve their competence in the English language.

Students participate in a job interview asking and answering questions that cover their background, education, skills, career goals motivation and personality using grammar and vocabulary related to the activity. Through the activity students role play an important part of a hiring process –interviewing– which among other assessment activities, they are very like to have in their near future. Emotions, qualifications and success, topics of Speakout Intermediate Module 1 Level VI 2018-2, are usually an important part of an assessment process and students apply their knowledge in different activities prior to the job interview.
Students talk about a community that is formed by the most influential people in tech by using grammar and vocabulary related to the activity. Through the activity, students are expected to talk about who is behind the most inspiring and innovative companies in tech and make their own TOP 10 by filling out a form containing these tech celebrities’ most relevant information (Job Title, place of work, tech platform description, fortune) Talking about communities, neighbors, cyberspace, welcoming guests are topics of Speak out Intermediate Module 2-Unit 8 Level V 2018-2, which are usually an important part of an assessment process and students apply their knowledge in different activities prior to the information sharing.
In this lesson plan we will be learning the basics of LinkedIn. Students will be able to practice the vocabulary learned about Jobs and learn in a real-life class activity how to complete a professional profile to assist with networking within their career.
Este recurso busca que los estudiantes opinen sobre los estilos de vida de otras culturas, apoyándose en textos orales y escritos previamente estudiados. En este caso, leerán tres textos sobre diferentes formas de castigar es escuelas alrededor del mundo. Para esto, se inspirarán en los documentos propuestos para crear un vídeo en el que comparen los puntos de vista y expresen su propia opinión sobre la temática tratada.
Con esta actividad se pretende que los estudiantes comprendan el sentido general de un texto, apoyándose en las imágenes y la información del contexto. Además, se espera que el estudiante conteste, de forma escrita, preguntas relacionadas con el documento que escucha. Para esto se utilizará la herramienta Vialogues, que permite agregar preguntas a un vídeo y da el espacio para que los estudiantes respondan a ellas como si participaran en un chat.
Este recurso busca que los estudiantes identifiquen la idea principal de un texto, así como expresiones utilizadas en la situación de habla para comprender el sentido. El vídeo presenta un grupo de niños que prueban comida de otro país y expresan su opinión sobre esa comida.
